An Islamic State-affiliated group has offered a $500,000 reward for the assassination of a pro-al-Qaeda rebel leader in Iraq.
The offer, made on an encrypted social media channel, calls for the killing of Abdullah al-Mohaisany.
The Saudi citizen travelled to Syria in 2013 and is now condemned by ISIS supporters as an “apostate”.
In May, he issued a fatwa which forbade the viewing of ISIS propaganda videos.
He said: “When we forbid watching such media publications that does not mean that the people of truth are incapable of bringing up proofs to refute them, but it is because it is a duty upon you to protect this Ummah from doubts, deviations and misguidance.”
